Slacker! Wordless Wednesday and Friday Favorites!

Guess I'm behind this week! ;0)

My Wordless Wednesday Pictures from last weekends "Tyke Time"::

And, yesterday's Friday Favorites!:::

Favorite or Dream Job

Well, let's see... I've had many dream jobs over the course of my 30 years... stemming way back from a young age my father tells me I used to say "When I grow up I want  to be a singer or a cow". Yes, a cow. Although my days of dreaming about being a cow are LONG gone... I still dream.
I'd like to be disgustingly wealthy and NOT work! But, ok, we know that won't happen. So, for now, I'd be happy extending my teaching certification and trying a hand at Early Intervention programs...

Favorite Vacation Spot

I have many DREAM vacation spots -- and have had many amazing vacations...
But, for my favorite vacation I pick my honeymoon to Cancun, Mexico.
It was the first (and only) "real" trip Jason and I have ever taken together (small weekend trips not counted) and it was so much fun!  We did just about anything we wanted to - ate when we wanted, drank whenever we chose, swam, napped, took excursions! It was truly such a wonderful trip... I'm dying to take another getaway.

Favorite Book
Ughh... I can't pick a favorite book. I have read so many books I love too many to have a favorite!
I have read and enjoyed biographies, memoirs, chick lit (fluffy fiction!), mysteries... etc... I definitely can not pick one favorite book!

Scares! ooh Paige...

Well between last night and this morning Paige has managed to give me two, yes two, mommy heart attacks.
She is a dangerous, exploring, daredevil....

Last night after bathtime, I was drying her off while sitting on the bathroom floor and she started to walk out of the room and a candle on the counter caught her eye...

(*** yes... I know its dangerous, I knew it was there, I just had simply thought it was further back than her reach, I was wrong... NO NEED for lectures on the dangers... I am well aware esp after last night)

We had lit the candle earlier while cleaning and just never blew it out before bath time... as she reached up to grab the candle I screamed "Paige No!!!!!!!" but it was too late, the candle was tipping over -- so, the best way to protect her? I pushed her out of the way...  if I pulled her towards me she would have still gotten splashed from wax, by pushing her forward she missed it completely -- she was 100% untouched by anything hot or candle related... my bathroom, well, its pretty waxy but I'll take that as a lesson learned and a punishment...

Paige is a chair climber. We know this. We try to keep all the chairs pushed in as tightly to our kitchen table as possible, but, it really doesn't help because she can pull them out. But, we do it for good measure.
I was cleaning the dishes from breakfast, and Jason was watching Tv in the living room (the kitchen table is visible from both of these places)...  I knew Connor was sitting at the kitchen table playing with his trains ... but Paige had been on the floor playing with her baby dolls...

Suddenly, we hear the sound of a glass breaking... it echoed so loudly throughout my head, and the house, because I knew I didn't do it had to be the kids..

I turned around to see Paige standing on a chair, reaching halfway across the table for a water glass (this cup was definitely out of reach...therefore, she needed the chair, and to reach across the table!)... and holding her hand as if she had a fistful of glass... she did.
Jason and I both reached that table in 2 seconds flat...
Luckily, she wasn't holding her fist too tightly so I was able to simply brush most of the glass right off her palm, and then I ran her hands under cold water to be sure all other pieces were off... However... the tip of her ring finger was bleeding. She was bleeding quite a bit actually. The cut was so small, but the location of the cut was a prime spot for bleeding (think...finger prick when they need blood samples at the doctor! Great bleeding spot)... so Jason wrapped her finger up in a few bandaids to apply enough pressure to make it stop -- and it did.

But, holy heck... Paige, Paige, Paige... you keep me on my toes.

15 months old!

On Friday, my darling Paige turned 15 months old! I was on time taking the photo...just not posting it on here! Now... I know these photos are out of sequence, but I had a heck of a time getting her to ignore the paper, regardless of where I had it taped! (Note the shred of paper in her hand in one of the photos!)

At 15 months Paige...

You are::
quite a character. I like to describe you as Sassy.
You have a mind of your own. You can be silly, stubborn, loving, fresh... when you want to be!
A talker! You chatter on and on all day long!

Some of your favorite words are:
  • No!
  • mama
  • dada
  • kitty
  • baby
  • up
  • baba
  • mao (milk)
  • juuu (juice)
  • fooo (food)
  • more
  • no more
  • momo (money)
  • dow (down)
Paige, you like to climb everything! Everytime we turn around you're standing on a kitchen chair reaching for money (momo) to put in your piggy bank, or trying to bang on the laptop! I push the chairs in but that doesn't stop you! You either pull them back out, or somehow weasel your little body up onto them!

You are a copy cat of whatever your brother does -- but, you still manage to get the laughs because you're so darn cute! Daddy always says "you're lucky you're cute because you'd be in a heck of a lot of trouble most of the time!"

Keep growing strong and healthy my little peanut! Mommy loves you! And, of course so do Daddy & Connor!

Friday Favorites!

For this week's installment of the HV Nestie Blog Challenge the prompts are:

Favorite TV Show
I certainly can't say that I know of any TV shows that are like my family so... I'll just discuss my favorite show! My favorite television show is without a doubt::
I've followed this show since the 2nd season (and I made sure to go back and watch the first season!!)... I just get drawn into the storyline and the characters! I must admit, I don't follow many "scripted" shows anymore because I always feel like I don't have the time to invest in starting new shows but...this one, will always be my favorite!

Favorite Store
I'd say that my favorite store to shop at is Target. I love picking up things for myself at Target, the house, and the kids! If possible, I always defer my purchases to Target! I enjoy it because I'm able to just walk around and "get lost" in there browsing even if I'm not buying!

Favorite Recipe
Well many of you know that I'm not much of a cook - I do it, but its usually at the hands of someone elses recipe! So...there aren't many recipes I can share -- HOWEVER... the one recipe I've been using to toot my own horn ::TOOT TOOT:: is the dessert recipe I started making around the holidays. My mom has always used it as her go to for pot-lucks and stuff, and I've started using it too! It's such a crowd pleaser and well, its easy and YUMMY!!!

 Its  a blueberry-pineapple cobbler:
16 oz. can of crushed pineapple
Can of Comstock Blueberry Pie Filling (or any reputable brand)
Box of Duncan Hines Yellow Cake Mix (or any reputable brand)
2 sticks butter (1/2 lb.)
Cool Whip – Optional
Lightly grease 9 x 13” pan
Spread pineapple on bottom of pan with fork – don’t use extra juice
Spread blueberry pie filling on top of pineapple (better to spoon on in small piles so you
can evenly and lightly spread)
Sprinkle whole box of cake mix on top
Melt ½ lb. (2 sticks) butter - Pour over top ( I use a small gravy ladle for better coverage)
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour (only needs 45 minutes if oven is
accurate. Fruit will be bubbling and top should be golden brown.)
Serve w Cool whip - Optional

You'll never have to eat Bologna again!

Last weekend I made a bologna and cheese sandwich for Connor to eat for lunch... as soon as I made the sandwich, cut off the crust as precisely as possible and cut the sandwich into 4... he began dismembering my sandwich pulling off the bologna!

I looked at him and said, "Connor, aren't you going to eat the bologna?"

And, he looked right back at me (while handing me another piece of bologna) and said "No I no like!"

That was the FIRST time Connor had appropriately, without prompting... put together a sentence consisting of more than 2 words!!!!
I was so thrilled by his speech that after I praised and gushed over his sentence  I said "OH Connor, you NEVER have to eat bologna again!!!!"

Friday Favorites

The prompts for this week are:
  • Favorite piece of clothing
  • Favorite Superhero
  • Favorite Movie
Favorite Piece of Clothing::
This is tough. I have certain clothing I go to on weekends more so than workdays (even though my job dress code is so uber casual its almost embarrasing) but I am not sure if I have one favorite t-shirt, sweater, pair of jeans...
However... I DO have the most FAVORITE pair of shoes... if it weren't for the freezing winters I'd probably live in them year round -- they are my black Reef flipflops.
This is basically what they look like -all black and...I believe we describe them as "like butter on your feet"

Favorite Superhero

Oh geeze... I really don't even know... I have to bail out of this one because - I don't know that I have a "favorite" superhero- or even really know enough about any to pick a favorite! Lame!

Favorite Movie

Ok...those of you who know me, say it with me now -- my favorite movie is:::
This has been my favorite movie ever since I can recall having a favorite movie. In fact, just this past September - my family and hubby joined forces and threw me a Wizard of Oz themed Surprise party for my 30th!

I need a break!!

At some point I become over tired.
I am tired of work.
I get frustrated from my ridiculous sleep arrangements.
I am tired.
So, I beg and complain for a "break".
The kids go to Grammy's house for the weekend.

Friday night -aahhh!! Girls night! Mommy's free!!!!!!
Saturday morning - wake up late! Really late! Drink hot coffee!! Call to check on my kids because I miss them.
Saturday afternoon -- Hm... the quiet is nice, but its TOO quiet here.... I miss the kids.
Saturday night - - Should we let the kids sleepover another night or just go pick them up? I miss them a lot. So I call to check in on them...
Sunday morning - HURRY I WANT MY KIDS!

As much as I want those breaks, I can't wait for them to end!!

Friday Favorites!

Join us! A handful of us ladies are going to do "Favorite Things Friday"...
Go over to my lovely friend Jenn's blog Commuting & Cartoons to grab the Favorite Things button, and sign up on the linky tool!

The prompts for this week are:

Favorite Song

Favorite Food

Favorite day of the week

1. My favorite song::
Well, I've always been the type to have a "new favorite song" as catchy tunes play out of my stereo however -- I don't seem to like as many new songs any more... Makes me chuckle -- as a teen I had gotten a pin for my dad that read "I'm not old, the music just sucks" -- haha yeh, I think I'll live by that.
So, I don't know if I have one FAVORITE song - but I could certainly embrace any Beatles' song, anytime...
2. Favorite Food::
Just one? Ice cream! Yes. I love ice cream. That's not a "food"?
Then I pick spaghetti and meatballs. I could live off that for a while! Mmmm
3. Favorite day of the week::
I think this is a tie. Between Sunday and Monday.
just kidding.
I do have a tie though-  between Friday and Saturday.
While Friday often gives that sense of "aahh I'm free!!! for 2 days..." Saturdays are free- the whole day!! And we often spend them together (or a significant portion), as a family which I always enjoy!

SNOW-ly Moly!

Yet another storm here in good ol' NY -- I must say I'm so sick of it! And, yes, I will rant briefly for a minute - I'm tired of people saying "this is NY, deal with it" blah blah blah -- well, guess what, if you lived in Florida you probably would say you were tired of hurricane season...  Just because I live here doesn't mean I have to like everything about it! And... why can't I be tired of the snow? We've had a lot of snow in a relatively short period of time this winter... so, guess what?

I'm tired of the snow even though I'm a New Yorker.

And, since I have another snow day - I'm bored! I've had a nice day with the kids, but geeze, its 1:30pm and I'm bored! Who knows if we'll bust outta here tomorrow either!

So far our snow day has looked like this::
  • laid in the kids room and played for a while after waking up
  • came downstairs had breakfast
  • laid around together watching some Finding Nemo
  • Paige napped, Mommy put away a few baskets of clean laundry
  • Mommy did more laundry
  • Connor and Paige started filling out their Valentines to send out
  • Had lunch
  • Played trains/Dora/firetrucks
  • broken up about 5,000 "fights" between the kids
  • chatted on the phone with a friend
  • read books with the kids
  • I've eaten so much junk food today
  • played on the computer
and... I'm bored. :-/

Thats my Mommy

Everytime Jason and I give each other a hug or a kiss one of the little ones (or both) want to join in... so it usually becomes a group hug...

Paige often runs over with her arms outspread saying "up up" for us to pick her up and join her...

And Connor, well, he usually stares down Daddy and says "Daaaaa-aaad" (as in, that's MY MOMMY!) so Jason looks at him and says "Daddy's hugging Mommy!" or "Daddy's kissing Mommy" and that is when Connor usually decides he must PROMPTLY intervene and be the receiver of the hugs and kisses!
