Playing together

The best times of the day are the moments when Connor and Paige are truly enjoying one another. Sometimes they cuddle, sometimes they laugh together and sometimes they engage in a game together.

Today on the couch, every time Connor leaned in towards Paige she would squeal with delight! This game went on...and on... luckily we captured a few seconds of it before they got really tired of playing...

Pay It Forward....

My fellow blogger Gina over at The Ish Blog posted about a website for parents to get a free child safety kit... I immediately followed the link and signed up for 2 of my own. I figured I'd pass on the word because I'm quite certain that anyone with small children needs as much "safety" as they can get!!!

Spread the word!

A week... and ZIP IT!

Wow, bad blogger... I haven't updated in a whole week.
I guess nothing too exciting has gone on.

Except, much to my delight, I taught Connor to say "ZIP IT" to Daddy. hahha
We were at dinner the other night and while Jason was talking I told Connor "Tell Daddy ZIP IT!" (and there was a little hand motion to go along with it).

Connor found that hilarious and every time I said and did "ZIP IT" he was belly laughing. He would then just stare at Jason out of the corner of his eye and grin -- as if he were truly contemplating telling his Daddy to "ZIP IT"... meanwhile Connor and I shared many more laughs while I did the routine.

Suddenly, Jason was starting to tell me something and Connor shouted "Da!!!!" we looked at him, he put his hand out and went "a-zzzzzzzzzzzzzz"!!

hahaha!!!!!!!!! I was laughing so hard, and Connor was so proud of himself...that for the next few minutes each time Jason tried to start the story Connor would say "A-ZZZZZZZZZ!!!" while putting his hand out to Jason! boy. Mommy is quite proud of you for that one!! And we shared many laughs too!

Not ME Monday

Mckmama- Not Me Monday

Not Me Monday...

I Did NOT eat most of the candy sitting on my desk that was meant to be shared with my staff for Better Speech & Hearing month from my classroom Speech Therapist.

I Did NOT order Paige the cutest headband/beanie/tutu set last week and "forget" to tell my husband about it! (wait til he sees it!!)

I Did NOT give Connor a peanut butter cookie this morning before he got his cup of Cheerios to munch on.

Nope...not me!

Babies, babies Everywhere!!

First, I'd like to CONGRATULATE my cousin Alyssa & her husband Paul on their beautiful new baby daughter. Baby Cameron was born yesterday (May 15th) 8 lbs 11 oz and 21 1/2 inches long. I can not wait to meet her and squeeze her!

Also, two of my friends Eliana and Karen gave birth to their sons this week!
Eliana is now the proud new Mommy toEthan Michael and Karen is the proud new Mommy to Jack Owen.

I am thrilled that all of these new babies have entered my friends and families lives!
Not to mention, I know of a few pregnancies (some not secret anymore, some still secret) so I will just "congratulate" them without shouting out who you are!

Despite how happy I am for all of these new moms and soon to be new moms I can't help but admit I've had many "Thank God I'm not pregnant anymore" moments... after almost 2 years of being pregnant - its nice to have "my" body back (even if its not how i want it to look...).

Although...Jason keeps telling me he thinks I'm going through pregnancy withdrawl haha.
Well, maybe a little.... but it doesn't mean I'm ready to join the club again.

What's Yours Is Mine and Whats Mine is....

...Still Mine.

Connor LOVES his baby sister. As long as she is not touching, sitting in/on, thinking about, drooling on or in arms length of anything deemed to be HIS. Well, since he was around first -- just about everything in this house is his...even if he hasn't used it since he was less than a year old.

He knows what toys are "hers" and gives them to her. When she is using something of his, he either rips it away from her or tries to yank her out of it. Once she is AWAY from his things he waits until we aren't looking and drags the item to the other side of the living room so we can't give it back to her. No lie. It's amusing...but, unforutnately, he needs to learn to share sooner than later.

Exhibit A:
Paige has beach ball...
Connor spies Paige with beach ball and SNATCHES beach ball
Connor tries to hide beach ball behind Pack and Play

Exhibit B: Paige has Connor's bear, Connor Takes Connor's bear....

This Mother's Day...

This Mother's Day I got:

  • to change some dirty diapers
  • spit up on
  • drooled on
  • kicked in the face 2x
  • my glasses ripped off
  • my hair pulled
  • my face sucked on
  • my finger chewed on
  • to clean up blocks numerous times

Which also means that on This Mother's Day I got:

    • to cuddle my baby girl to sleep
    • to play cars with my big boy
    • to roll around and be silly
    • to make my baby girl laugh out loud playing peek-a-boo with her
    • to hear my son say "Pweees" (please)
    • to get some pretty sweet gift cards as a gift
    • to get drooly wet kisses from two adorable kids
I guess it means, I'm a Mother, and I really did have a wonderful Mother's Day!

Mothers Day

I found this online:

Before I was a Mom -
I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.

Before I was a Mom -
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom -
I had never been puked on - Pooped on - Spit on - Chewed on, or Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and My thoughts. I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom -
I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests...or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom -
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life
so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.

Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known The warmth, The joy, The love, The heartache, The wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

You know you're a mom of 2 under 2 when...

I'm sure many of these apply to parenting in general, in fact, I know they do --but, when you have 2 under 2 these are more like Laws of the Universe.

  • Sitting down to "rest" means you've just created an extra seat for someone smaller than you
  • EveRY WorD You Say iS enunciated MORE strongly to encourage SPeecH
  • Hopes of a "hot" meal are traded in for hopes of a "lukewarm" meal, yet you aren't surprised when your meal is room temperature or cold.
  • Speaking of meals, you don't actually sit down to eat without jumping up 15 bazillion times to get another spoon, napkin, fork, piece of food, fill a sippy cup, get a crying baby, get a burp cloth, oh you forgot a drink for yourself, oh the phone is ringing, the baby is crying again, your toddler needs more food now, or your toddler decided to dump the plate on their head....phew...did you even get to take a bite yet??
  • you plan your shower around 2 sleeping children so you can actually enjoy it.
  • sleeping through the night is more of a parental milestone than a childhood one.
  • you become oblivious to the formula/spitup/animal cracker smeared on your shirt.
  • of course -- you get double the smiles, double the giggles, double the hugs and kisses (drool included)

thats it for now...I'm most certain I will be adding to this list...a lot.

Steve had already been a wonderful part of our family so it was wonderful to watch them take the next step forward.
