My friend Kayla over at her blog and Potato Makes Three! gave me a blog award! Be sure to check out her blog - I really enjoy reading about her life, and looking at the photos she shares!
This award requires the "winner" to share 7 things about themselves... here goes!
1. I don't care for white cars. Random, I know, but they don't do anything for me. (Sorry white car owners. Please like me still.)
2. Haagen Dazs Chocolate Chocolate Chip Ice Cream is my most favorite ice cream of all times. I could eat a pint of it in one sitting and still want more. Mmmmm.
3. I love taking pictures of the kids! I would really like a better camera so I can learn a little bit about photography.
4. I love the mornings when I can bring both kids in bed and snuggle. I feel like "time ends" there, and could do that all day.
5. Getting dirty doesn't bother me. I am always sitting myself right down on the ground with the kids at school, or with my own kids. I'd rather be dirty with glue, paint, playdoh, bubbles (whatever) and know that fun was had - than staying clean and refraining from the fun!
6. Most times, I'd rather text than talk on the phone.
7. Sometimes I wish I was more confident and outspoken. I sometimes walk away from a situation at home, work, public (even minor situations) where if I had just spoken up and not been nervous I would have gotten a better end result. Truth be told, doing so often terrifys me.
Now...I would like to pass the blog award on to 3 bloggers...
This past Monday I had a wonderful day seeing my good friend Mary -- (check out her blog) -- and her kids Ethan and Avery. Our kids used to have playdates together all the time before they moved to South Carolina!
However -- they'd never met Miss Paige! When they moved down, I was still pregnant!
It was great to see Connor and Ethan playing now that they're walking and climbing troublemakers.
And, Connor got to see his great love, Avery -- he certainly missed her! Aww he cried when they left asking for "Babbery"...
It was wonderful to spend quality time with them again -- we've missed them terribly! I hope we can take our own trip to South Carolina... in the meantime, back to webchats!
Paige headbutted me last night! She fell asleep in my arms with her head on my shoulder... as she was adjusting herself -- she moved her head back, and BAM! right into my lip! I had to hold in my yelp because she was still mostly asleep despite smashing her head on my face! I ran to Jason said "Take her!" and grabbed a teething ring (closest frozen thing nearby) to hold on my lip. OUCH!
So, I know that "part of being a parent" means you are up at all ungodly hours with sick children.
Last night, Paige (sick w/swollen glands, terrible congestion and ear infection) woke up around 3:15. She ate a little bit, I gave her some drops in her ear to help the pain, I rubbed some Baby Vicks on her chest and held her and rocked her.
She started coughing, the congestion was just causing a nagging cough... until, she threw up. It was actually good for her, because she got some of the gook out -- but, ugh...for Mommy.
Her and I were up until 4:15 because she just couldn't get herself comfortable...you know how it is when you're feeling lousy.
Anyway- shortly after she fell back to sleep - Connor lets out a yell! It was almost 5 a.m. and I didn't want her waking up after she just fell asleep so I swooped him out of the crib and into my bed! I let him fall asleep there with us... but I never sleep very soundly when he's in the bed because I just worry that he will fall off, or something -- so...needless to say, my sweet slumber was interrupted at 3 a.m. never to return quite the same.
So, please, before you tell me "Welcome to parenthood" or, "Thats what happens when you become a parent" please stop yourself because I might throw something at you. And right now, the two closest items are my coffee mug and my phone.
Does it really suck less being up at those times because you're a parent? Uh...NO.
I couldn't forget to post a special Happy Father's Day to my husband, Connor & Paige's wonderful Daddy! They were very excited to give him a special present -- one that LITERALLY took blood (on Mommy) Sweat (again, on Mommy) and tears (on Connor and Paige).
We made Jason/Daddy a "DAD" photo frame!
There are some cute alternate shots that I didn't use for the "DAD" frame -- so I will share them with you! Connor was not very cooperative whatsoever. He kept tossing the "D" everytime I handed it to him, or he'd jump off the couch as soon as I would step back grab my camera. In fact, in some of the pics you can actually see his tears! Paige was very cooperative- until we tried to do the joint photos -- then, she followed suit of her brother.
Happy Fathers Day! - First I wanted to wish a very Happy Father's Day to my dad - especially since I didn't get to see him this weekend, and he's stuck at work overnight doing some computer project thingy that I know I will never FULLY understand no matter how many times he tries to explain it to me.
Sometimes we laugh, sometimes we cry. Sometimes we disagree, and sometimes we argue.
No matter what...I love you dad! Happy Fathers Day
Paige turned 7 months old today! The time has absolutely flown by!
At 7 months my little peanut is somewhere around 16-17 lbs.
She scoots/army crawls all over the place, and boy, is she FAST! She is very observant, loves to play with toys now - especially anything she sees Connor playing with. She DOES love the kitty cats and her big brother - she finds them all quite amusing.
Just this week she's been able to sit up unassisted for long periods of time! Good job big girl!
She eats solids (babyfood, stage 2) 3x a day - she loves green beans the best! She still drinks soy formula- about 24 oz /day.
Paige is still a bit of a fussbot, she just wants what she wants when she wants it.But, don't get me wrong...she loves to giggle and squeak! She has the cutest combination of a squeaky and raspy voice!
My favorite part of our routine is that she snuggles up in my arms on the couch, or in Mommy's bed, to fall asleep before being moved into the crib. I just love the few quiet moments we share as we end our night.
Kayla over at "and Potato Makes Three" suggested that I blog on this topic: According to your babies personality now what would they be when they are adults?
Thanks for the suggestion!!
Some of Connor's personality traits:
These personality traits make me think that he'd be perfect as a stunt man! But really, he likes to entertain people with his silly faces, his silly dances and when he has done something that he's proud of he wants everyone to applaud him followed by getting a High 5 from us! Therefore-- if not a stunt man, some type of entertainer...
Some of Paige's personality traits:
(this is a little harder since she's younger...but let's see!)
Overall, Paige is determined to get what she wants when she wants it... and, if its your attention she wants she WILL get it! I always refer to her as "My little Diva" -- so, can she just be a Diva when she grows up? You know, demand attention and fame as a living? Maybe she'll find a rich gentleman to marry and then become a Princess of some foreign country... ;0)
It appears that I'm suffering from a case of writers block.
Perhaps thats a good thing -it may mean theres a lack of shenanigans going on here- or, I'm just blocked.
Throughout my daily routine there are often many times I say to myself "oh that would make a great blog entry!" or.. "Write about this event!"and I end up having to weed through my ideas because I have so many.
Lately, not so much... when something happens I'\ve been thinking "Hmm...can I make that funny?" or "could I write about that?"
Either way...I'm here, and always thinking of what to say- even if I'm not saying much at all.
So we had a lovely Friday evening with my mom and stepfather. We met up with them for dinner and then went across to the mall to pick up a few things. On the ride home (35 min. approx) Paige was VERY fussy and crying. I could tell from her cry something was bothering her. We pulled over.
Teeth bothering you? Don't think so...
after mentally going over the ":Fussy Baby" checklist -- we decided to just truck on...
She started fussing harder, louder and more intense, more screaming in fact. I said to Jason "JUST DRIVE!".
So, 5 minutes before home, she stops crying and dozes off (phew!).
We get home, take her out of the carseat-- DIRTY DIAPER!!!!!!!! (she must have been "working on it" when I checked her).
Anyway...we're home, Paige is now clean and calm.
TIME FOR BED CONNOR! -- *remember...we were already PAST bedtime when we left the mall.
Well, Jason tries to bring him upstairs to change his diaper and clothes for bed-- and not once, not twice, but THREE times-- Connor vomits ALL OVER Jason, our hallway floor and our bedroom floor. Ugh and ew!
Of course Connor is crying a little now, because really, who likes to vomit?!
So, I run upstairs, put Paige in her crib- grab Connor throw him in the tub STILL fully dressed - and start running the water while stripping him down.
As I'm washing off Connor, Jason is not only cleaning himself off, but trying to attack the mess on the floors. After Connor was cleaned, he sat playing in the tub for a few minutes -- low and behold-- POOPS IN THE TUB! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?
Thankfully, Paige was playing happily in her crib and just fell asleep. Connor and all of his bodily functions were taken care of as well... and he is sleeping peacefully as well.
clipping finger and toenails means you have to be armed with 20 different methods of attack to get the job done!
as soon as you wrestle one kid to change their diaper and get their clothes back on, put everything back where it belongs ALWAYS means diaper #2 is ready to be changed.
you have one child to the left of you that you're trying to settle down for approaching bedtime, while the child on the right is being bounced and entertained to keep from fussing
one runny nose equals TWO runny noses!
Leaving the house means 1 diaper bag, 1 bag of bottles/sippy cups/snacks and possibly a smaller bag of extra clothes/toys/food/diapers wipes in case you're gone longer than anticpated! THERE IS NO TRAVELING LIGHT!
I know the theme song to Dora, Sid the Science Kid, Sesame Street, Diego, Scooby-Doo -- and I don't have to have the show on to sing it!
In addition to knowing the theme songs...I know what time said shows are on in case I need to entertain the masses in a pinch
The living room (aka play area) gets cleaned up of toys and within the blink of an eye looks as if its never been cleaned up!
And, as always, the BEST part of 2 under 2 is seeing how close the two kids already are...Connor & Paige LOVE each other already -- SEE HERE
Yesterday you turned 20 months old! You are surely on your way to 2 years old! The time has flown.
You make me giggle, laugh out loud, smile, and feel full of love everyday. Of course, you can be quite mischevious everyday too - but the hugs and kisses make those silly memories at the end of the day!
And, how appropriately, you have just learned to climb OUT of your crib. I was hoping we had some time before this day would come - but I guess not! You are just a big boy that wants to do big boy things!
You are a wonderful big brother already - you make your sister giggle when you play with her, you love to hold Paige's hand, and get sad when she cries.
You like to help Mommy and Daddy with what they're doing - and always feel so proud of yourself when you know you've accomplished something!
You say "ok" a lot lately - we're still waiting on more words from you but are proud of you no matter how much you say.
You LOVE to play outside! Daddy always says you're a "real boy" because you see dirt - and head straight for it!
