Personalized Gifts

I am lucky enough to have EXTREMELY talented friends who love us so much that they took their time to create some of the most beautiful and special baby gifts I've ever seen.

The train was 100% hand painted to match the nursery bedding set we selected- this was painted with LOTS of love by Aunt Ray (we must give credit for the caboose to Uncle Mark though!! :) )

The next set of gifts come from Aunt Tiffany who took her time out to paint 3 canvases to help decorate the nursery. She surprised us by giving them as a gift for the shower - another very special gift for the baby. These 3 paintings also match the bedding set wonderfully!

We can not thank you enough for the love and time you put into these wonderful gifts!!

Still a honeydew...35 weeks

In the last months of pregnancy the baby doesn't measure up against a fruit weekly, its been monthly. Sooooooo, we're still a honeydew but I thought I'd offer another growth update at 35 weeks.

(this can be found on
Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

Things Hurt

Basically, everything hurts.
I have body parts and muscles aching that I didn't even know existed. gets more and more uncomfortable by the day to lug this huge baby belly around.

My Belly, The Bumper

Within the last few days I have suddenly started banging into things w/my whaleness of a belly. I dont know if it dropped, got bigger, or both but all of a sudden I seem to have lost my ability to navigate around things with this enormous thing sticking out of my front...

Maybe I need a Tummy Guard - you know, the equivalent to shin guards, chest pads etc... that athletes use. If not, I can just get a pillow and some ribbon and tie it around my abdomen.

I enjoy coffee. I really enjoy coffee.
When I was at one of my first OB appointments I was told that I could still drink 1-2 cups of coffee per day. Well, I chose NOT to do that - and barely even drank decaf for a long time.

As I progressed through this pregnancy I started drinking more decaf and occasionally mixing it so that it was 1/2 decaf 1/2 regular on those mornings that I needed an extra little kick. STILL, this has not been my "normal routine".

One would think that by the time I have reached the middle of my third trimester I would be aware of what I can and can not drink. One would also think, that by the middle of my third trimester I would be able to make decisions about whether or not what I was doing would harm my baby...

Well, apparently NOT. Pouring myself a cup of coffee (YES, WITH CAFFEINE!! **GASP!**)
I was questioned as to whether or not I should be drinking that...

I mean, SERIOUSLY!!?!?!?!

So loved.

Baby E is already so loved and he isn't even here yet!
My baby shower was this past Saturday - and everyone in our families banded together and helped out in making it a fantastic day.
It was wonderful to be with family and friends that not only love us, but love this baby. He is going to be so lucky when he's born - knowing that he will always be surrounded by people that love him and care for him so much.
Mr E and I were absolutely spoiled and showered with gifts to help prepare for his arrival and we couldn't be luckier. To everyone that participated -- THANK YOU! We LOVE you!

I will post some baby shower pics below - and coming soon - some pics of special home made presents that were given to us.

Make it STOP!!!

One of the "symptoms" in the third trimester that I've read about is an itchy abdomen. Well, for the past month or so I've read about this potential itchy abdomen and thought "Ah ha!! Something I DON'T have to deal with!!"
Eeeeeeeeeee (imagine a buzzer sound), WRONG!
The area my lower abdomen (think below my belly button) itches so, so bad I can't deal! I apply creams to it, I scratch it, I rub it, heck, I've even made Mr E scratch it for me. Nothing gives me any long-term relief. Its so frustrating to just itch, itch, itch!

And some 34 week belly shots:

Fruit of the Month...

Baby E is now the size of a HONEYDEW!!!

And, as always according to
Baby’s senses are continuing to improve -- when light peeks in through your (extremely) stretched belly, those tiny eyelids and irises blink and dilate. And, baby can now recognize and react to simple songs… time to start practicing your lullabies! Growth (at least inside your womb) is starting to slow, and you may notice baby descend into your pelvis at the end of this month.
I'll post some updated pictures soon - I think I keep stretching and expanding. Soon I may burst so I'll get those pics up before its too late.

SEPTEMBER has arrived

Today is LABOR DAY, otherwise known as SEPTEMBER 1st.

This is not really news to anyone who owns a calendar- but, the point is that I'm due to have my baby NEXT MONTH!

Normally, I am quite excited for the arrival of September - its my birthday month afterall! However, this morning the scene played out a little bit differently than usual.

When I flipped over the calendar, bidding a pleasant farewell to August and welcoming September with open arms (remember, the normal "birthday month excitement was brewing inside) I FROZE. I just stared at the pages as my arm was halfway between making August disappear and September appear. I stood there thinking to myself "Holy crap, there will be a baby NEXT MONTH! And that baby will be MINE!"
It is scary, exciting, amazing, nerve-wracking - everything all balled int0 one to think that I've already passed 7/9 of this pregnancy and am in the home stretch.
